A total of 192 contestants representing eight colleges began vying for team and individual points Thursday night at the Hill County Fairgrounds, in the first of two Montana State University-Northern rodeos this weekend.
The first rodeo wraps up today with the slack at 9 a.m. and short-go at 7 p.m.
The second rodeo will begin with the slack Saturday at 9 a.m., followed by the performance, or long-go, at 6 p.m. Contestants will finish up in the short-go Sunday at 11 a.m.
The long-go includes the top 10 contestants in each of the timed events and all the rough stock. The slack picks up all the timed contestants except for those drawn to compete in the long-go. Then finally, the top 10 scorers in each event compete in the short-go for final placing and prizes.
Admission prices are $4 for adults and $2 for grades six-12. Ages 6 and under will be admitted free. MSUN students will not be charged if they have their current student ID. No admission will be charged for the slack competition. Concessions will be served at all scheduled times. Proceeds will go to the MSUN rodeo team.
