LODGEPOLE Henry J. Birdtail, 56, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001, due to natural causes.
Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Medicine Bear Lodge with burial following in the Birdtail Family Cemetery at Lodgepole. Wake and rosary will be 7 p.m. today in the Medicine Bear Lodge.
Henry was born Feb. 11, 1945, to George, Sr. and Jenny (Cliff) Birdtail at the Old White Cow Place near Lodgepole. He attended school at Lodgepole and started working on ranches in the area. Starting in 1964, he worked as a body-fender man in Denver for several years. He returned home and worked as a firefighter and ranch hand. He also worked in the Butte mines, attended truck-driver training in Havre and heavy equipment training in Pierre, S.D.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, two children, six brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include his son, Wayne Birdtail of Harlem; sisters, Joyce Gone of Hays, Ophelia Gives and Almeda Birdtail both of Harlem, Edith Earthboy of Pablo, Doreen Birdtail of Busby; numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
