CHINOOK Walter T. Wisch, 86, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, south of Chinook when a firearm discharged while being removed from his vehicle.
Memorial services are pending at a later date.
Walter was the youngest of five children born to Julius and Johanna Knudsen on July 25, 1915, at the family homestead north of Chinook. He attended schools in Chinook.
Walter married Norma Erskine on July 6, 1941, in Chinook. He lived and worked around Chinook all his life at Farmers Union, Montana Hotel and the U&I Sugar Factory. In the fall of 1945, he moved to the Vern Carpenter farm south of Chinook that he farmed on a crop share. In 1961, he purchased the farm from Carpenter. He sold the farm he so loved to his son Dennis in 1979.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred and Eldor Wisch; sisters, Margaret Voss and Martha Acher.
Survivors include his wife, Norma of Chinook; sons, Ted Wisch of Ocean Park, Wash., Royal Wisch of Denver, Colo., Dennis Wisch of Chinook; daughter, Fontella Edwards of Havre; two grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
