James J. Carr, 56, an avid fan of Havre-area sports, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, of a heart attack at a Havre hospital.
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. today at St. Jude Catholic Church in Havre. A memorial Mass will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Jude. Cremation has taken place.
Jim was born Feb. 16, 1945, in Havre to Jim and Ethel (Ludwig) Carr. He was raised and educated in Rudyard and graduated from Rudyard High School in 1963. He attended Montana State University in Bozeman.
Jim began his career as a salesman starting with Havre Distributors, then working for various implement dealerships in the Havre area. He finished his career with Triangle Ford New Holland in Havre.
Jim married Char Schroeder of Havre. They later divorced and have since remained friends.
An avid sports fan, Jim was a booster to all sports in the Havre area. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. He was known for his sense of humor and his memory of people, places and events.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his daughter, Chana Carr of Great Falls; son, Jeff (Glenda) Carr of Middleton, Wis.; sisters, Ginger (Max) Maddox of Chinook, Joan (Greg) Jensen of Conrad, and Mary Lou (Steve) Klobofski of Havre; brothers, Pat (Barb) Carr of Kennewick, Wash., and Mike Carr of Havre; six nieces; six nephews; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and a host of friends.
Memorials may be made to the Havre American Legion Baseball Program, c/o Gordy Thompson, 1110 10th Ave., Havre, MT 59501.
Arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
