The Harlem Wildcats, one of the top-ranked teams in Class B, got the season off to a very successful start by winning two games in the season-opening tournament in Billings.
Harlem, behind 33 points from Chris Cole and 21 from Kevin Bigby, won its first game of the Boys Southern Basketball Classic 97-84 over Lodge Grass.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early 29-11 lead after the first quarter, but Lodge Grass scored 29 points in the second quarter to cut the lead to 51-40 at the half. Harlem increased its lead to 74-60 after three quarters of play.
Four players scored in double figures for Harlem, led by Cole and Bigby and followed by 15 from Colby Fetter and 11 from Adam Bigby.
Harlem's second game of the tournament proved just as dominating as the first game, defeating Lame Deer 82-68.
Chris Cole was once again the leading scorer for Harlem with 30 points. Kevin Bigby followed with 19 and Hank Brockie with 15.
Harlem jumped out to a 23-11 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, leading 40-27 at the half.
Despite four players in with 10 or more points for Lame Deer, Harlem cruised to a 14-point win.
Pius Takes Horse led Lame Deer with 28 points followed by Lloyd Hogan with 11 and Robert Whistlingelk and Jeremy Hiwalker each with 10.
