We're taking some concrete steps to beef up our coverage of local sports.
You've already seen two of our efforts the new Hi-Line Sports Roundup that will appear with color photographs every Monday on Page 9 of the Havre Daily News. It will feature results and stats, as we get them, from weekend sporting events involving student athletes all over our coverage area.
Another weekly feature is athletes of the week, in which we give recognition to athletes nominated by their coaches and athletics directors after a particularly strong performance.
Beginning next Wednesday, we'll start publishing a daily list of schedules of upcoming games and results of games from the night before. We also plan to begin running team standings on a weekly basis.
It's all part of an effort to give better recognition to the young athletes many north-central Montana towns support and rally around.
We're counting on people affiliated with the teams coaches, athletics directors, managers and others to provide us with the information we need in a timely fashion, either by phone, fax or e-mail. If you don't see your team schedule or results in the Havre Daily News, you may want to urge people associated with the team to get in touch with us.
