SYBIL INEZ FUQUA
Sybil Inez Fuqua, 86, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, at a Havre hospital of a stroke. Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be held by the family at a later date.
Fuqua was born in rural Hall County, Texas to Frederick and Lillie Jackson on April 13, 1914. She finished high school in Magnum, Okla.
Fuqua was a lifelong homemaker, was employed as a cook and housekeeper on ranches in south central New Mexico, and worked on munitions plants in Texas and Colorado, as well as in the shipyards during World War II.
Fuqua married David Abbott. He died and she later married Elmer Sample who also died. She married C.A. Fuqua in 1950. She and C.A. were owners of a restaurant and a citrus farm in Texas.
She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, bingo, card games, visiting friends, and foot-stomping, hard clapping music.
Fuqua was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; infant daughter, Debra Kaye Fuqua; brothers, Dillard Jackson, Thurston "Monk" Jackson, and Cleston Jackson; and sister, Elois Champion.
Survivors include a son, Dr. David Abbott of Havre; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
