Having a ball

Approximately 110 community members gathered Saturday night at the VFW Club for the Community Appreciation Military Ball.

Paul Tuss of Bear Paw Development Corporation served as the Master of Ceremonies. Debbie Vandeberg, director of the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce, was the guest speaker. Vandeberg expressed her great appreciation for those who volunteer in all areas of the community.

Everyone who attended was entered into a drawing for door prizes which were donated by area merchants. A raffle was also held for larger prizes. Dinner was prepared and served by the VFW Ladies' Auxiliary.

Numerous awards were presented throughout the evening by the VFW Club, the American Legion, the Havre Jaycees, the Relay for Life Committee and the Disabled American Veterans. Nine people were nominated for the prestigious Community Appreciation Award, in recognition of outstanding community service.

Bonnie Bennett received the Community Appreciation Award in honor of her outstanding dedication to uncountable charitable organizations including Girl and Boy Scouts, Salvation Army, Red Cross, United Way, Easter Seals and more.

Other nominees for the award were Delores Ball, Harvey Brock, Dena Tippets, Pam Smith, Mike Spencer, Sister Judith Maender, Dave Greenwood and Leroy Keller.
