We at the Havre Daily News want to congratulate the area speech, debate and drama competitors for their work at the State Class ABC tournament last weekend, and for their work throughout the season.
It takes a lot of work, skill and training to stand up and compete in public speaking. The variety of events students can compete in with speech and drama create important communication and thinking skills that will benefit the competitors for the rest of their lives, and require abilities that many adults feel they couldn't do.
Congratulations for a successful season, a season that taught crucial skills even to those competitors that didn't win, or even make it to state.
Thanks and congratulations go out to the coaches, parents and supporters of the competitors as well. They are the ones making these events possible, giving the students a chance to learn, a chance to compete and a chance to have some fun while they're competing and learning.
Congratulations to all the state competitors. Congratulations to all who competed but didn't make the cut. Good luck to those who make it to the National Forensic League tournament, and any who might make it to the national competition. And good luck for the next season, and farther into the future.
