Havre Herberger's School Benefit Day

By Tim Leeds

The Havre Herberger's store will join other members of the Carson Pirie Scott & Co. businesses nationwide in helping schools raise money for their operations.

School Benefit Day is a special shopping day at the participating stores, including Herberger's, Bergner's, Boston Store and Carson Pirie Scott. The promotion takes place March 10.

Representatives of interested schools and school organizations sell $5 tickets, with the entire ticket proceeds going to their operations. The ticket gives the customer access to the shopping event, as well as five $10 certificates they can use on purchases all day and entry into a company-wide drawing for a Club Med trip to Mexico.

"They sell the tickets and keep the money, so it's a great fund raiser for them," Gary Peterson, manager of the Havre Herbergers, said.

Peterson said some of the school groups have been very successful using the promotion in past years.

He said they have some schools signed up already, ranging up and down the Hi-Line and in Havre. He said any kind of school or school organization can participate, not just the public schools. He said as long as they have some kind of a classroom environment, some kind of instruction involved, they would qualify for the promotion. He said groups from the high school, middle school and Montana State University are all signed up already.

Peterson said any school or school organization can call the Havre store for more information. He said they will receive a registration packet, including information about the promotion and items to help with the sale of tickets, when they register. He said groups could even use a table at the store on a weekend to sell the tickets.
