Legislative break a good time to ask

By HDN Editorial Board

Transmittal day is a signal to Montana's lawmakers that the

session is half over.

The date is also a signal that the hard working men and

women who help guide the state in the right direction have

an opportunity to go home for a little rest.

But this vacation is also an opportunity for the area

lawmakers to give updates on the session's progress to date.

Sens. Greg Jergeson and Jon Tester and Reps. Merlin Wolery,

John Musgrove and Matt McCann have been very willing to talk

about the daily issues facing them during their time in the

House and Senate chambers or during committee meetings

sprinkled throughout the Capitol Building.

If there are issues of concern to you, write or call your

lawmakers from the Hi-Line area. It also never hurts to

contact other lawmakers who are sponsoring controversial

bills.

It is very important to take the time to listen to the

echoes coming from Helena during the session. If we don't,

we may have to live with the consequences of some bad bills

that could dampen our way of life in Montana.

Write to your Montana senator or representative at: State

Capitol Building Helena, MT 59620 or phone (406) 444-4800 or

(406) 444-1444 The message will be delivered and the

legislator will return your call if requested. They really

care about what the people have to say and need feedback on

important issues.

We at The Havre Daily News encourage the people of the

Hi-Line to quiz their lawmakers on how the session is

shaping up and what surprises, if any, we may expec
