ALTA JOHNSON

Alta "Toots" Louise Johnson, 77, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001 at a Havre hospital of natural causes.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with Pastor John Chapman officiating. Burial is to follow at the Highland Cemetery. Luncheon will follow at the first Baptist Church.

Johnson was born April 11, 1923 at Valier to Earl and Alta (Panchot) Bliss. She attended schools in Valier and graduated from Valier High School.

One July 26, 1941, she married Reuben E. Johnson in Valier. They moved to Kremlin in 1948. In 1958, the family purchased a farm north of Havre.

Johnson was active with the Soup Kitchen in Havre, crocheted afghans, was a member of the First Baptist Church and enjoyed her second home in Parker, Ariz. She particularly enjoyed being a grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reuben Johnson in 1988; son, Lloyd Johnson in 1989; sisters, Katie Torgeson and Margaret Schey; brothers, Ernie Bliss, Leon Bliss and Gary Bliss.

Survivors include her sons, Earl Johnson and Bill Johnson, both north of Havre; sisters, Beulah Brown of Conrad and Laura Olson of Great Falls; brother, Walt Bliss of Grass Valley, Calif.; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
