The Headpins are returning to Havre on March 24 to play at Shamrocks Bar & Casino.
June Erickson, owner and operator of Pardi Gras in Havre, said today she has finished arranging an eight-stop tour for the band in Idaho, North Dakota and Montana. The tour finishes in Havre.
"They loved Havre," Erickson said, " They thought the Havre people were so nice so hospitable."
Erickson also arranged the Headpins New Year's Eve concert they played at the Bigger Better Barn at the Hill County Fairgrounds Dec. 31. The band talked to many happy fans after the show, and Erickson said they visited with quite a few the day before as well.
Modesty Caven said she is excited about having the band play in her bar and casino.
"I love it 'cause that's my music,"she said.
Caven said she has been a fan of The Headpins since high school. She said it will take some work to enlarge the stage and get things ready, but she is looking forward to the show.
"I thought they gave a heck of a show New Year's Eve," she said.
Caven said Stuart McKay is planning to run the lights for the Headpins' show, and may be reunited with Lori Curley to have Groove House open the show. Caven said they would do a tribute to Led Zeppelin and Heart for the opener.
The opening of the Havre show is planned for 9 p.m. It will come at the end of a nine-day tour of the region, starting at The Irish Pub in Lewiston, Idaho, on March 15; The Coaches Corner/Club Central in Whitefish on March 167; Bullwhackers in Helena on the March 17; Murph's in Great Falls on March 20; The 408 Steakhouse and Casino in Williston, N.D., on March 21; Rock-N-Library in Mandon, N.D., on March 22, and Casey's Golden Pheasant in Billings on March 23, then on to Havre.
Erickson said many of the people she has been talking to about booking the tour have been really excited to have the Canadian band, whose first album went gold in 1982, play in their cities.
She said she has been booking local bands as openers for the Headpins in other areas as well as Havre. Erickson said Rappahart out of Shelby will open for the Great Falls show, Roxsticks from the Helena area will open at Bullwackers and Notorious will open for the Whitefish show.
Erickson said she has heard from several Havre people that plan to go to some of the out-of-town shows, such as Billings and Helena, as well as coming to the Havre performance.
She said since she started working to book the Headpins tour, other bands have been contacting her to see if there would be interest in other performances in the area. Erickson said bands including Dokken, Firehouse and Slaughter have contacted her to see if there would be enough interest to do shows in the area. If anyone is interested in seeing other performances, Erickson said, they should contact her at Pardi Gras, 265-2665, or at home at 262-9515.
There will only be 150 tickets sold for the Havre show. They expect them to be on sale by Monday at Shamrocks and Pardi Gras, and will sell for $16.50.
