RUDYARD Ann Marie LaBorta, 59, died Friday, March 9, 2001 at a Chester hospital after complications from diabetes.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rudyard. Burial will follow at the family plot at the Joplin Cemetery.

LaBorta was born April 13, 1941 in Havre to Elmer and Esther (Bergstrom) LaBorta. She grew up on the family farm south of Rudyard and received her early education at Rathbun Country School. She graduated from Rudyard High School in 1960.

She continued to live on the farm, where she enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the chickens and cats and assisting with housekeeping details. After her parents died, she lived on the farm with her brother. He became ill in 1998 and she moved to the Liberty County Nursing Home in Chester in June 1998.

LaBorta was a confirmed member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rudyard. She was active in 4-H in her youth and worked as a stagehand for school plays.

Her hobbies included crocheting and embroidery, collecting music boxes and stuffed animals, being hostess at the farm for visitors. At the nursing home, she attended the music programs and Bible study groups, played bingo and UNO, and enjoyed watching game shows and the news on TV.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a great-niece.

Survivors include her sisters, Myrl Solum of Rudyard, June Stiles of Glasgow, and Aileen Garrick of Plentywood; brothers, Gerard LaBorta of Chester and Dale LaBorta of Breckenridge, Minn.; aunt, Myrtle Bergstrom of Rudyard; nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are by Rockman Funeral Chapel, Chester.
