Benjamin seeking horse shooting info

By Tim Leeds

Jack Benjamin said that he hopes someone will be able to come forward with information about whomever it was that shot his pregnant horse last weekend.

Benjamin said the mare, which was nine months pregnant, was shot with a small caliber gun, probably sometime Saturday, March 10. The shooting occurred on his property west of Havre, across from Kmart.

Benjamin said the shot didn't actually kill the animal, but it caused internal damage that ended up poisoning it. The horse had to be killed due to the poisoning Sunday. He said the veterinarian estimated the shooting happened some time on Saturday.

Benjamin said the value of the pregnant animal was about $3,000. He asked that anyone with information about the shooting contact the Hill County Sheriff's Office at 265-2512.
