EVELYN ANDRUS
Evelyn Andrus, 98, died Saturday, March 10, 2001 at a Havre care center of natural causes.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at the Highland Cemetery. A fellowship is to follow at the Eagles Club in Havre.
Andrus was born April 29, 1902 in Wakaw, Saskatchewan, Canada to John and Anna (Shevchuck) Woronik. Her family from Canada to a homestead 35 miles north of Havre when she was 11. She attended school north of Havre.
Andrus moved to Chicago when she was 16 to live with an aunt and to work for Western Electric as a factory work. She stayed there for 15 years and then returned to Havre. She later married Everett Andrus in Chinook on Feb. 23, 1943. She worked in Havre at the Up & Up Cafe and The Dutch Shop Cafe. She lived near Lincoln for a time and lived out the rest of her life in Havre.
Andrus enjoyed her vegetable and flower gardens, country western music and especially enjoyed dancing the polka. She enjoyed going to the North Central Senior Citizens Center, traveling, sewing her own clothes and playing bingo.
Andrus was a member of the Eagles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett Andrus in 1975; brothers, George Woronik and Pete Woronik; sisters, Helen Beatty and Mary Lenhart.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Dorothy Woronik of Havre; friend, Minnie Simko of Havre; several nieces and nephews and cousins.
