MYRTLE DITMAR
Myrtle Leota "Myrt" Ditmar, 97, died Saturday, March 10, 2001 at a Havre nursing home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Messiah Lutheran Church in Havre. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Havre.
Ditmar was born Sept. 10, 1903 in Kensal, N.D. to Anthony and Nettie (Greb) Alex. The family moved to Montana in 1913 and homesteaded north of Hingham. She received her formal education at the Hughey Country School near the farm.
She married Arthur Clarence Ditmar on Dec. 7, 1922 at Great Falls. They lived and farmed on the Ditmar homestead north of Rudyard. In 1947, they moved to their new home in Havre. He died in 1974.
She remained in Havre until 1987, then moved back to Rudyard to be closer to her family.
In 1997, her health began to fail and she moved to Northern Montana Care Center in Havre.
Ditmar was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church in Havre.
Her hobbies revolved around her family and included cooking and baking, crocheting and handiwork, reading and listening to music.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; daughter, Joan Twedt; brothers, John, Glen, Harry, Edward and Anthony Alex; two grandsons, Greg and an infant boy.
Survivors include her sons, Arthur Ditmar of Harlem and Richard Ditmar of Rudyard; son-in-law, Harold Twedt of Great Falls; sisters, Eleanor Rathbun and Mildred Sedivy, both of Havre; five grandchildren; eight grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to the Gift of Life in Great Falls or a donor's choice.
Arrangements are by Rockman Funeral Chapel, Chester.
