Big Sandy Rotarians

The Big Sandy Rotarians are a very active group, doing a lot of activities that put improvements back into the town.
Big Sandy Mountaineer Publisher James Rettig said the Rotary Club holds a major fund raiser every year, then "puts all that money back into the community."
One of the Rotarians' projects was building a sports complex behind the elementary school in Big Sandy, a complex which Rettig said is busy from early spring to late fall. It holds three softball fields and a baseball field and is maintained by the Big Sandy Athletic Association.
Rotary Club member Dianna Webster said everything the club raises and does goes right back into the town. She said many projects are youth oriented, but they do other projects as well.
Webster said this year the club did the sidewalks from U.S. Highway 87 over to the Big Sandy Historical Museum.
"All volunteer work by Rotarians," she said. "For a small little town and small little Rotary we get a lot done."
