ERMA BRADLEY

Erma M. Bradley, 85, died Wednesday, April 4, 2001 at a Havre hospital of natural causes.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Calvary Baptist Church in Havre, with the Rev. Mel Gemmill officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery, with a reception to follow at Calvary Baptist Church.

Bradley was born Dec. 27, 1915 to Fred F. and Mabel May (Dunbar) Swartout in Kremlin. She attended school in Kremlin and Havre. She graduated from Havre High School in 1933.

Bradley then moved to North Hollywood, Calif. to attend beauty college. She remained in California as a beautician to movie stars until she moved to Shelby in 1942.

She married Vern Olson in Shelby in 1943. They later divorced and she married Mr. Bradley in 1956. They later divorced, too.

She worked at the Corner Beauty Shop in Shelby. She became allergic to hair and was forced to change careers.

In 1972, she moved to Havre and was employed as a clerk at the Fair Hotel. She worked as a clerk at LeHavre Inn from 1977 until her retirement in 1987.

She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and attending church services.

Bradley was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husbands; son, David Eugene Olson; sisters, Marian Lewis and Helen Davidson Yates.

Survivors include her brother, Jack Swartout of Seattle; special daughter, Carrol Oedewaldt of Shelby; three grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
