At their regular April Park Board meeting, Park Board members sent letters to two cabin owners who had not yet paid their leases for 2000. The cabin owners were given until April 15 to pay or they would be turned over to the county attorney and their leases terminated.
Board members discussed the fact that they had gotten some criticism over raising cabin leases some $50 for the 2001 park season. They said that once cabin owners were told that the raise in lease fees was to pay for landfill charges by the people who produce the garbage in the park dumpster, cabin owners seemed to understand the raise.
Woody Baxter, who soon will be the Montana FWP person in charge of the fishing access site at Bear Paw Lake, told Board Chairman Kathy Eskestrand that there would be no cattle allowed to graze down the grass at that site.
One camper requested that he be allowed to park his camper at the Eagle's Campground, clean the campground around it, and pay $150 a month to leave his camper there. His request was denied by the Park Board.
The first 2001 cabin inspection will be held on April 20, starting at noon.
Eskestrand announced that the next meeting will be her last as she is moving out of the area.
Triangle Telephone is seeking right-of-way easements to move their lines out of the new road bed as construction begins on the new Beaver Creek highway.
Park Board members were told that the Beaver Creek fence waiver bill is still on Governor Martz's desk, awaiting her signature. They were also told that in the Montana House of Representatives there was not one single "no" vote on the bill.
Park Board members heard that the park trapper has trapped 45 beavers this season.
The next regular Park Board meeting will be held on May 7 at 7 p.m. at the Detention Center conference room.
