MELVIN LAMERE
Melvin LaMere, 56, died Friday, April 13, 2001 south of Havre.
Wake services were Sunday at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church with Father Pete Guthneck officiating, with burial to follow at the Rocky Boy Cemetery.
LaMere was born May 16, 1944 in Fort Belknap to Victor and Josephine (Mosney) LaMere. He attended schools in Rocky Boy and Box Elder.
LaMere enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea as a member of the 101st Airborne. After he left the service he returned to Rocky Boy.
LaMere was employed at the Rocky Boy Fish and Game Department as a game warden at the time of his death. He previously had worked seasonally for the Rocky Boy Roads Department for about 15 years.
LaMere enjoyed ranching and visiting with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Victor LaMere Sr., and two brothers, Victor LaMere Jr. and Robert Lee LaMere.
Surviviors include his sons, Melvin Writing Bird of Box Elder, Matthew LaForge of Bismarck, N.D., and Aaron LaMere of Rocky Boy; daughter Nathel LaMere of Rocky Boy; brothers Eugene LaMere, Billy LaMere, Michael Sangrey, Dennis Sangrey and Larry Denny Sr., all of Rocky Boy; sisters Victoria Demontiney, Betty Jean LaMere, Mildred LaMere and Judy Parker, all of Rocky Boy; nine grandchildren.
Cause of death is under investigation.
Arrangements are under the direction of Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
