Hi-Line observes home week

During American Home Week, the Havre Hi-Line Board of Realtors keeps busy offering a variety of special services to homeowners, as well as those looking to buy or sell a home.

Buying or selling a home are big steps which take careful planning, likewise, owning a home takes dedication and commitment on the part of the owner. This year's American Home Week celebration will focus on taking a look at the history of homeownership.

According to the National Association of Realtors®, the best source of information about your home is the building itself. For example, check out your home's roof, walls, doors, windows and foundation and note what they are made of and how they differ from one part to another.

Look at records and talk to former residents to get an idea of the history of your home. Visit the library or courthouse to search for your home's previous owners and try to track them down. Find out what changes have been made to the home over the years. Gather as much information as you can and create a file which can be added to over time.

Realtors are available to help potential homeowners decide what is important when looking at a home; they can also give the seller a better understanding of what needs to be done before the house can go on the market.

American Home Week is celebrated in communities across the nation each April. "During this week-long celebration, Realtors will work to remind individuals, businesses and industries of their rights and responsibilities as citizens and property owners to always work for the betterment of their community," said Havre Hi-Line Board of Realtors member Cindy Schubert.

The Havre Hi-Line Board of Realtors is one of 1800 local boards and associations of Realtors nationwide that comprise the National Association of Realtors®.
