The city's annual Havre Pride cleanup day is scheduled for this Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until noon.

The Spring 2001 cleanup gives Havre a chance to get outside and give back to the community by helping clean the streets of Havre. It's easy to participate in the cleanup, just pick up trash bags at one of five locations around town and fill them with the street trash that litters Havre's public areas. Filled bags can be deposited at the dumpsites in exchange for a coupon for a local restaurant.

We at the Havre Daily News encourage all citizens of Havre, young and old, to participate in the Havre Pride cleanup campaign. Get a group together it can be friends, family or coworkers and work together to clean up our town. Businesses can show their support by donating prizes or monetary donations to the cause. Individuals can participate by helping to man the dumpsites or joining a trash collecting team. Clean-up crews will be available as well to pick up trash items from alleyways and deliver them to dumpsites, which is perfect for those spring-cleaners out there who are ready to clear out their house or garage.

Prizes will be available in several categories, including most trash collected by a single person and the most unusual piece of trash. The Havre Daily News applauds local merchants, as well as the City of Havre, Garbage Inc. and the Montana Highway Department for their donations and ongoing support of the Havre Pride cleanup day. We look forward to seeing the community out on Saturday showing their Havre Pride.
