MARY NOFFSINGER, Obituary

WHITEFISH Mary Genevieve "Gen" Noffsinger, 89, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001 at a Whitefish extended care facility.

A vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, May 7, at St. Charles Church in Whitefish with the Rev. Charles W. Strom officiating. Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, May 8 at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Church. Interment will be in Havre at Calvary Cemetery Wednesday at 2 p.m.

Noffsinger was born in Helena, Jan. 5, 1912 to Phillip and Catherine Chevallier and was raised on the family ranch at Canyon Creek. She graduated from St. Vincent Academy in Helena.

She married George W. Noffsinger in 1935. They lived in Glacier Park while he worked on his father's ranch, The Park Saddle Horse Co. Later they moved to Havre.

He died in 1955 and she went to work for Great Northern Railway. When she retired, Noffsinger settled in Whitefish.

Noffsinger loved to travel, cook, and paint china. Football was her greatest passion. She was a member of CCW, Women of the Moose and the VFW Auxiliary 276.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, five sisters, two grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law.

Survivors include her sons, Jim Noffsinger of Whitefish and George Noffsinger of Havre; daughters, Mary Little of Florida and Helen Clark of Whitefish; sisters, Lolly Russell of Helena and Phyllis Meaney of Denver; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Flathead Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
