Girls victory at Cut Bank first win of season
Havre won both the boys and girls team titles Saturday in the Cut Bank Invitational, and the boys added another title at the Fort Benton Invitational on Friday to round out two solid days of golf this past weekend.
In the Cut Bank tournament, Havre's Kevin Harada was the medalist with a 37, and Troy Toner won a playoff for second place with a 39 as the Blue Ponies claimed the team championship by six strokes over second-place Conrad.
Jessica Sande (45) and Julie Wagner (48) led Havre's girls to their first tourament title of the year in the Cut Bank Invite with first- and second-place finishes, respectively. The Blue Ponies finished with a team total of 204 strokes, nine ahead of second-place Conrad.
In the Fort Benton tournament, Jason Johnstone paced the Ponies with a tournament-low 77, clinching the individual title after winning a one-hole playoff. Teammate Nick Obie placed third overall with a 78.
Havre's boys finished with a 318.
Wagner was the medalist in the girls tournament with a score of 94. Sande finished second overall with a 96.
