GILDFORD Rose Elsie Barnes, 78, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001 at her home in Gildford of natural causes.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be held in Bozeman at a later date.
Barnes was born April 21, 1923 to Ernest and Bertha (Schlaeppi) Rothen Sr. in Pine Island, Minn.
She worked at a hospital in Minnesota as a cook. She came to Montana to visit family and met her future husband. On Dec. 31, 1955, she married Donald Patrick "Pat" Barnes in Gallatin Gateway. They lived in Gallatin Gateway and she worked as various jobs. They owned and operated the Gateway Caf.
He died in January 1984 and she worked at the CB Ranch in Ennis until she retired in 1995. She moved to Big Sandy in 1996 to be closer to her daughter. She moved to Gildford in February 2000.
Barnes was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Patrick Barnes.
Survivors include her daughters, Patricia Conway of Guernsey, Wyo. and Pamela Simenson of Gildford; son, Ray Main of Billings; sister, Mary Knight of Battle Mountain, Nev.; brother, Ernest Rothen Jr. of Pine Island; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
