The Downtown Merchants once again asked to block off Havre's Second Street every Saturday this summer for SATURDAY Market. The SATURDAY Market dates begin with July 21 and last through Sept. 5.
Janine Donoven, of the Downtown Merchants Association, told council members at Monday's city council meeting that last year's SATURDAY Market received very positive response from patrons and vendors. She added that the only time the association would be unable to use the street is when the 3-on-3 Hoopfest takes place. Donoven told the council that Bear Paw Credit Union has already agreed to allow the merchants to use its parking lot for SATURDAY Market that weekend. The council approved the association's request.

Minutes from the May 7 council meeting were approved.
A motion was made to put a $4,230 request for a Montana Power Company energy audit on City Hall into the Finance Committee for further review. The audit is part of MPC's Efficiency Plus Business Partner Program. The motion was approved.
Housing Program project P82 was approved in the amount of $8,960.
A request was made to establish a committee to develop written ADA analysis of city buildings.
A motion was made to allow the mayor to sign and expedite a contract between Bear Paw Development and the City of Havre regarding the water line maintenance. The motion was approved.
Galusha, Higgins and Galusha presented a city audit report to the council.
Resolution 3346, a resolution establishing a Capital Improvement Program for technology was approved.
Upon approval from the Department of Public Works, the council approved the Catt-Preeshl Subdivision.
The Water and Sewer committee reported on its May 7 meeting regarding the Eagles Manor waiver request. The request died in committee and was retracted by the Eagles Manor.
The Labor and Negotiations committee set a meeting for May 29 at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
The Finance Committee reported on its 6 p.m. meeting. Per their meeting, a motion was made to the council to allow the director of public works and the mayor to negotiate the terms of the First Street water line contract and give them permission to sign a change order. The motion was approved.
The next scheduled city council meeting is June 4 at 8 p.m. at City Hall. All motions were approved unanimously by the council.
