Chancellor Alex Capdeville announced in a press release yesterday that Montana State University-Northern has hired Chuck Jensen as its new vice chancellor of finance and administration/student services.

"Chuck brings a great deal of enthusiasm and experience to this job," Capdeville said. "I have had the privilege of working with Chuck for several years at the Helena College of Technology and I believe he is exactly what Northern needs to position it for growth and vitality."

Jim Potter, public relations director at Northern, said they decided to combine the positions of business manager and vice chancellor of academic affairs into one position, streamlining the university a little bit. He said Jensen has accepted the first occupation of the new vice chancellor position.

Chuck Crimmins, the business manager hired last summer, announced his resignation last December, and Vice Chancellor Carol Green left the university last spring. Jensen is scheduled to take over his new position July 1, the date Crimmins' resignation takes effect.

Jensen was on the Northern campus last week and met with members of the faculty, administration and staff.

"I should be able to hit the ground running, since I understand the Montana University System," he said during his visit. "I am well-versed in the Banner computer software and I have a good working relationship with Alex."

Jensen has been the chief financial officer at the Helena COT for the last three years. Other positions he has held include controller and acting assistant dean for business and finance at the Montana State University College of Technology-Great Falls, the director of university internal audit for Montana State University-Bozeman, the director of financial aid and placement for the Helena COT and a legislative auditor for the State of Montana.

Jensen is a certified public accountant (CPA) and holds a bachelor of science degree in business and accounting from Montana State University-Bozeman.
