With Memorial Day comes commencement

Our View

Monday, May 28, is Memorial Day, a day dedicated to the memories of those we have loved and lost, and more specifically, those who have lost their lives defending our country's pride and freedom.

We at The Havre Daily News encourage the community to take time on Monday to show respect for the many influential people who have perished, but whose memory and legacy lives on.

Memorial Day is a time to reflect; a time of remembrance, reminiscing, and often of tears. As spring turns into summer and we descend deeper into another year, it is important to take time to remember those who have built our past, whose accomplishments and sacrifices have made it possible for us to be where we are today.

Memorial Day traditionally kicks off the beginning of the summer season and falls amidst another time of transition Havre High School and Big Sandy graduations. With all of these changes taking place around us, it is good to have a day where we can take a moment to pay respects to loved ones who are no longer with us.

Change is inevitable and should be embraced, but the past holds valuable memories and lessons that should not be allowed to fade.

The Havre Daily News encourages community members and graduates alike to take time this Memorial Day to carry on a tradition of hope and respect for the future and the past.
