HARLEM Stella Monson Cronk, 88, died Thursday, May 24, 2001 at a Chinook nursing home of natural causes.
Funeral services were Monday at Harlem Presbyterian Church with burial in Harlem Cemetery.
Cronk was born Nov. 23, 1912 to Gina (Halingstad) and Martin Monson in
Leeds, N.D. She spent her childhood north of Chinook and graduated from Chinook High School.
While working at J.C. Penney's in Harlem, she met Roger Cronk. They were married on Oct. 14, 1932 in Malta. They made their home on the Cronk Ranch for nearly 50 years. Upon his death in 1981, she moved to Harlem.
Cronk was an accomplished cook, seamstress and gardener and she enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
Cronk was an original member of the Lucky Thirteen Club, Worthy Matron of Eastern Star and an active member of the Harlem Presbyterian Church. She also enjoyed the Harlem Senior Citizens Center because her favorite pastime was card playing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger; son, Lee Cronk; brother, Melvin Monson.
Survivors include her daughters, Donna Tkachk of Anaheim, Calif. and Carol Cronk of Billings; daughter-in-law, Karalee Cronk of Harlem; sisters, Clara Chapman, Ag Slonaker, Esther Dougherty and Helen Monson; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Edwards Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
