Theresa Magdaline Nelson, 98, died Saturday, June 2, 2001 of natural causes at a Havre care center.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Holland and Bonine Funeral Chapel with Father Marcel Vogel officiating. Burial service will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Havre.
A reception will be hosted at the Eagles Club following the committal service.
Nelson was born March 3, 1903 to William and Margaret (Theis) Schnitzmeier in Pearl Lake, Minn. In 1912, the family moved to St. Joseph to homestead. She attended schools in Havre, Canada and St. Joseph.
In February 1925, she married Guy Nelson at the home of her parents in St. Joseph. They farmed and ranched north of Havre until 1970 when they retired and moved to Havre.
In Havre, her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, tatting, reading, gardening, and playing cards at the Senior Center.
She also volunteered for many senior projects, particularly teaching the art of tatting and talking to the "young people about the old days."
Nelson was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Guy Nelson; daughter, Helen Madsen; nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Lorraine Schweitzer of Reno, Nev.; son, William "Bill" Nelson of Havre; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews.
