ROGER SUTHERLAND, Obituary

BOX ELDER Roger (Saddler) Sutherland, Sr., 49, died Monday, June 4, 2001 at a Havre hospital of liver failure.

The wake service will begin Wednesday afternoon and a rosary service will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at

the Rocky Boy Catholic Church with Fr. Pete Guthneck officiating. Burial is to follow at Rocky Boy Cemetery. Feast will follow at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church.

Sutherland was born Jan. 15, 1952 to Albert Saddler, Sr. and Emma Jane Gardipee Gibson on Rocky Boy's Indian Reservation. He attended Rocky Boy Elementary School and Box Elder High School. Sutherland enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1975 and was stationed at Fort Ord, Calif.

He married Joyce Swan. They later divorced.

He was traveling with a job when he married Tuesday Birdtail of Fort Belknap on Oct. 12, 1979 in Wallace, Idaho. They moved to Rocky Boy the next year. He worked at numerous jobs during his life. His last was as a bus driver for Rocky Boy Schools.

Sutherland enjoyed boxing, gambling, fishing and spending time in the Bear Paw Mountains with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Saddler, Sr., in 1988.

Survivors include his mother, Emma Jane Gibson of Havre; wife, Tuesday Sutherland of Box Elder; daughters, Delberta Sutherland, of Spokane, Wash., June Sutherland of Box Elder and Rina Sutherland of Havre; sons, Brandon, Gavin and Roger Sutherland Jr., all of Box Elder; brothers, Albert Saddler Jr. of Mililani, Hawaii and Sigmund Sutherland of Isleta, N.M.; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
