Jessica Sande of Havre has committed to golf for the Montana State University-Northern program this fall, Coach Chris Handley announced today.
Sande, this year's Central A Divisional champion, won three tournaments during her senior year at Havre High.
"I'm excited to have Jessica with us for next year," Handley said. "I've been following her all year, and I was excited to see her perform so well towards the end of the season."
Sande was voted the outstanding golfer for Havre High School this year, even with a rough experience at the Class A state golf tournament.
"Jessica was in a situation where she signed a scorecard after the first day that had a few of the hole-scores marked in the wrong boxes," Handley said. "Because of this, she was disqualified. My heart really went out to her, especially knowing that she would have placed fourth and been All-State. Her attitude through the ordeal was one thing that drew me to her even more, though, because she showed a lot of resilience and didn't give up."
Sande is now the sixth golfer on the Skylights' roster for this fall.
