RUDYARD Alice Eleanor Kenfield Sanvik, 88, died Saturday, June 30, 2001 at a Havre care facility of natural causes.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rudyard with Pastor Tim Hauge officiating. A luncheon will be held after the funeral at the church. Burial is to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Highland Cemetery in Havre.
Sanvik was born March 29, 1913 to Theo and Ida (Hauge) Kenfield on the family farm north of Inverness. She graduated from Rudyard High School. She studied education at the University of Montana and Eastern Montana College, she took her teacher's exam and began teaching at the Grassy Butte School north of Joplin in 1932.
She married Obert Sanvik in 1934. They farmed north of Rudyard for more than 40 years. In 1942, she resumed her teaching career and taught at a number of schools along the Hi-Line over the next 30 years. She earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education in 1971 at 58.
After their retirement, the Sanviks lived in Arizona for five years before moving to Hot Springs in 1980. In July 1997, she moved to Havre to be near her sister.
Sanvik's hobbies included sewing, crafts, reading and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Obert Sanvik, on June 17, 1993; daughter, Darla Sanvik, on Jan. 1, 1951.
Survivors include her sister, Olive Kiemele of Havre, and numerous nieces and nephews.
