BOZEMAN Kellen Malone and Teri Sherrill, both of Havre, reached the semifinals in mixed doubles play before being eliminated at the Riverside Adult Tennis Classic last weekend at the Riverside Country Club.
Malone and Sherrill defeated Bozeman's Bill Hanson and Erica Hanson 6-3, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals, where they were defeated by Tani Fritz and Rad McCord of Bozeman 6-3, 6-2.
Malone was a two-time Class A state champion at Havre High, and Sherrill also earned a state title for the Blue Ponies.
Malone teamed with Nick Heninger in men's open doubles and were eliminated with a 6-4, 6-2 loss to Jason Swanson and Dan Tengelsen of Bozeman.
Malone was ousted in the first round in men's open singles with a loss to Billings's Matthew Hamilin 7-5, 2-6, 6-2.
Heninger lost to eventual singles champion Jim Cripe 6-0, 6-1 in the first round in men's open singles.
Sherrill lost to Cathy Whidden in the first round of the women's open singles division 7-5, 4-6, 7-5.
