Haugen stepping down in 2002

Jim Haugen, the Montana High School Association Executive Director since 1997, has tendered his resignation, effective in July 2002.

Haugen, who has served the MHSA in different respects for the past 24 years, began his career in 1958 in Fairview, where he taught English and speech and coached athletics.

He then moved to Sidney and added the athletic director position to his resume before accepting the MHSA Assistant Director position in 1977.

MHSA President Joe Brott, Superintendent of Power County High School in Deer Lodge, indicated the MHSA Board of Control will use the next several board meetings to discuss the process of hiring a replacement.
