The Havre Northstars' alumni are used to coming into the alumni games knowing they will walk away with a win.
This year, however, the "kids" had different plans.
The Comets came away with a 4-2 victory over a team consisting of Havre baseball alums in the first game Sunday afternoon at Legion Field.
The Northstars completed the sweep with a 5-1 victory over the younger alumni, many of whom had played the last two seasons, in the second game.
In the opener, the Comets scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 2-2 tie and come away with the win.
Ian Spencer had the only hit of the inning with a one-out single to left field. Bobby Bergren put two runners on for the Comets after being hit by a pitch.
The alumni then gave the Comets two gift runs as Spencer scored on a wild pitch and Bergren scored on an error.
The Comets also scored their second run on a three-base error in the fourth inning.
The Comets' first run came in the second after three consecutive base hits by Steve Heberly, Spencer and Bergren.
The alumni jumped out to an early one-run lead in the top of the second as Luner Evans singled home Hoover Peterson. Peterson, who had three walks in the game, also scored the alumni's second run in the sixth on a groundout.
The younger Northstars alumni were hoping to take advantage of a fatigued Northstars team, which had just completed a recent second-place finish at the Class A state baseball tournament.
Instead, the Northstars appeared to have the fresher legs and bigger bats.
The alumni got things started early, scoring one run in the top of the first inning on Kirk Perszyk's RBI single.
The Northstars scored a run in the bottom of the third to tie the game and scored two runs in both the fourth and the sixth innings to hand the alumni the loss.
Mike Kellam continued his strong hitting from state and led off the fourth with a double. Kyle Sheppard followed with an RBI single and later stole home on a double steal with Garrett Hanson.
The Northstars scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away. C.J. Reichelt had an RBI double in the inning.
The Northstars' pitchers struck out 13 and only gave up four hits in their victory.
