Stone Child College wins league golf championship

The Beaver Creek Golf and Country Club crowned Stone Child College its league champions for 2001 on Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the golf course.

The tournament began with 40 teams, 20 competing on each night Tuesday and Wednesday. The top eight teams from each night advanced to the playoffs, which began on Sept. 4. Eight teams were eliminated from the tournament by Sept. 8, with another four cut the following week. The four teams surviving the final cut were Culligan, Stone Child College, Tilleman Motors and Havre Ford.

Stone Child College defeated Culligan in the semifinals and Tilleman Motors defeated Havre Ford. Stone Child College defeated Tilleman Motors 19 1/2 to 16 1/2 in the final round to earn the championship.

Members of Stone Child College's team are Lloyd Henry, Larry Morsette, Frank Henry and Ed Stamper. Other members of Stone Child College's team include Steve Galbavy, Maynard Limberhand and Greg Drummer.

Trent Normandy added a hole in one on hole number four on Sunday, Sept. 16. Normandy got his hole in one with an eight iron. Hole four is 162 yards long.

Beaver Creek Golf Course also announced the results from the Festival Days Golf Scramble.
