Boys cross country team takes first

On an unusually curvy, hilly course, the Havre Independent Boys Cross Country team came away with three personal records and a first place finish at Saturday's meet in Lewistown.

Running personal bests were Jeff Sprinkle with a first place 16:13, Kasey Barsotti with a fourth place 16:54 and Evan Olson sixth at 17:53.

Andy Meyers finished in 19:08 for 13th and Ryan Gilbreath in 20:03 for 18th.

Havre runner Garrett Watson led the mile time at five minutes flat but blistered out at the 2-mile.

"Jeff (Sprinkle) ran as hard as I've ever seen him run," said Havre Independent Boys coach Ron Watson. "They all competed extremely hard."

The Havre Independent Boys are scheduled to compete in this weekend's Havre Invitational but are still waiting for the go-ahead from Havre Public Schools.
