MARY RUSSELL, Obituary

CHINOOK Mary J. Russell, 93, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at a Conrad care center due to natural causes.

Funeral services were scheduled for 2 p.m. today in the United Methodist Church in Chinook with burial following in Kuper Memorial Cemetery.

Mary was born July 31, 1908, in Zurich to Obie and Lola (May) Streeter. She attended schools in Chinook and Deaconess Nursing School in Havre.

She married Ray T. Russell on Feb. 14, 1931, in Chinook. They lived in Chinook for many years and she worked part time at J.C. Penneys. They moved to Havre in 1955, where she worked at the Notions counter at Woolworth until retiring in 1970. They moved back to Chinook and she moved to the Horizon Lodge in Conrad in 1997.

Mary was an active member of the United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, crocheting and taking pictures of her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Russell, on July 3, 1976; son, Bert Ray Russell, on June 23, 1934.

Survivors include her daughters, Lola Geiger of Conrad, Pearl Reed of Havre, Dorothy Borgen of Las Cruces, N.M.; son Raymond Russell of Brighton, Tenn.; brother, Marian Streeter of Eugene, Ore.; sister, Alberta Crites of Kennewick, Wash.; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; special family friend, Joanne Lutes of Seattle.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Salvation Army.
