Hazel Mae Staples, 83, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at her home in Havre of natural causes.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Thursday at the Holland and Bonine Chapel with Pastor Mike Parr officiating. Burial is to follow at Highland Cemetery.
Hazel was born March 16, 1918, to Victor Oscar Shuman and Malitta Flake Miller Shuman Sarff in Luverne, N.D. She attended schools in Glasgow.
On April 12, 1936, she married Roy Staples in Lewistown. The couple farmed north of Havre from 1936 to 1968, at which time they moved into Havre.
Hazel enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and playing the piano.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy Staples; son, Larry Staples; daughter, Sandra Staples; sisters, Edna Faye Shuman and Florence Lewon; brother, Evron Shuman.
Survivors include her daughter, Phyllis White of El Dorado Hills, Calif.; son, Leslie Staples of North Havre; sister, Della McCormick of Great Falls; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to a person's choice.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
