Lewis "Louie" Bailey Lotton, 72, retired railroad operator and religious volunteer, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2001, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.
Prayer service will be 7 p.m. today at Holland and Bonine Chapel. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Brad Ulgenes offciating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. There will be a fellowship to follow the burial at First Lutheran Church.
Lotton was born Jan. 30, 1929, to Leo Bailey and Fay (Rice) Lotton in Center, Mo. His family moved to Dodson in 1936 to engage in farming. He was raised in that area and completed his education at Dodson schools.
Louie worked for the Great Northern and Burlington Northern railways in Havre as a crane operator. He retired in May 1988 as a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
Louie was a member of First Lutheran Church in Havre, where he volunteered at least 40 hours a week as a sacristan since 1975. He was a deacon the church and a member of the Lutheran Brotherhood. He also worked at Lutheran Kogudus and interdenominational Apantao retreats for many years.
He was married to Nancy Goldberg in 1953. They later divorced.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1973 and his mother in 1977.
Survivors include his sister, Mrs. Hugh (Virginia) Kienenberger, and brother, Dennis Lotton, both of Malta. He also is survived by a niece, three nephews, several cousins, and many unofficially adopted sons and daughters who will miss his constant vigil.
Memorials may be made the First Lutheran Church or the Gift of Life in Great Falls.
Services and arrangements are under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
