ROCKY BOY Agnes Roasting Stick Gopher, 84, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at a Havre hospital.
Wake began Friday night at Rocky Boy Catholic Church. Funeral service was Saturday with Fr. Pete Guthneck officiating. Burial was to follow at the Rocky Boy Cemetery.
Agnes was born Sept. 26, 1917, to Michael and Eliza (Smith) Roasting Stick at Great Falls. She attended schools at Rocky Boy and Box Elder. In 1940, Agnes married James Gopher in Rocky Boy. To this union nine children were born.
Agnes passed on the tradition of sewing, making quilts, and doing beadwork with all who asked. She also enjoyed traveling. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Gopher in 1984; brother, Sam Roasting Stick in 1974; sister, Julia White Horse in 1967 and Edna Roasting Stick in 1928; adopted sister, Roseanna Saddler; sons, Michael Gopher in 1994, Melvin Gopher in 1985, John Gopher in 1949, Richard Gopher in 1956, infant son in 1950.
Survivors include her sons, Robert Gopher, Russell Gopher and Joseph White Horse, all of Rocky Boy; daughters, Kathleen Gopher and Linda Gopher Rocky Boy and Viola Running Fisher of Browning; three nieces; four nephews; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.
Services and arrangements were under the direction of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
