Daryl Dennis Johnson, 48, an Air Force veteran and former railroad conductor, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at a Seattle hospital of stomach cancer.
A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at st. Jude Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with burial to follow in Highland
Cemetery. A fellowship will be at St. Jude Social Hall following the burial.
Daryl was born Dec. 4, 1952, to Norman and June (Kezar) Johnson in Havre. He attended school in Kremlin and graduated from Kremlin High School. He enlisted in the Air Force Feb. 16, 1972, and was honorably discharged Aug. 17, 1975. Daryl worked at the Farmer's Union Oil Company in Kremlin and with the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway as a train conductor.
Daryl married Carla Peck in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. They made their home in Havre and raised their children.
Daryl enjoyed many things, such as golf, basketball, tennis, football, airplanes, boating, flying kites and other activities with the children. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and eating Wilcoxson's Fudge Bars. Daryl was a member of the Local Conductors United Transportation Union and of the St. Jude Catholic Church.
Daryl was preceded in death by his grandparents; uncles, Dalys Kezar and Gerald "Bobo" Kezar; aunt, Mary Jean Davey; nephew, Mitch Burfield.
Survivors include his wife, Carla Johnson of Havre; parents, June and Norman Johnson of Havre; daughters, Jayci Johnson and Kaylee Johnson of Havre, Danyelle (Ryan) Dotson of Fall City, Wash., and Nikki (Justin) Pyper of Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii; sister, Diana (Ted) Burfield of Missoula, and Delonna (Ned) Malone of Havre; brothers, Donald (Denise) Johnson and David Johnson of Havre and Duane (Lynne) Johnson of Helena; one grandchild, Dyllan Dotson of Fall City, Wash.; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
