Nearly 90 hockey players from seven teams between the ages of 9 and 11 will be visting Havre this weekend for the Squirt Winter Thunder Tournament to be held at the Havre Ice Dome.
The tournament begins Friday night at 7:45 when the Havre B team will take on the Missoula B team. The tournament continues all day Saturday, beginning at 8 a.m. Sunday's action begins at 7 a.m. and will end in mid-afternoon.
Teams will be divided into two divisions the A team division and the B team division. The members of the A teams are second year skaters in the age group, while the members of the B teams are first year skaters.
Trophies will be awarded for first and second places in each division and plaques will be given for third and fourth places. The tournament is scheduled as a round-robin type. Winners will receive two points and one point will be awarded for a tie. The team at the end of the tournament with the most points will be named champion.
The concession stand will be open and 50/50 raffles as well as other raffles will be held all weekend. There will be no admission fee charged and everyone is invited to come.
The tournament is sponsored by Jim Miller Construction of Rudyard and C&C Excavation Inc. of Havre.

The Havre Bantam team competed against the Billings Junior Bulls over Thanksgiving weekend, earning a split for the two games.
Billings won the first game Saturday 5-3. Tyson Anderson scored one unassisted goal and Josh Morse and Ben Erickson each scored assisted goals in the effort. Mark Larson assisted Morse's goal and Josh Strissel assisted Erickson's.
Michael Erickson guarded the goal for half the game and blocked 12 attempts. David Zentmire was the goalie for the other half of the game, saving 11 attempts sent his way.
The Havre team rebounded on Sunday and scored 6 goals to defeat the Bulls 6-3.
Mark Larson led the way with two unassisted goals. Josh Strissel also scored two goals, one was unassisted and the other was assisted by Tyson Anderson. Anderson also scored an unassisted goal of his own. Ben Erickson scored the other Havre goal, assisted by Austin Small.
Michael Erickson saved 11 attempts as goalie and David Zentmire saved 12.
The Bantam team's next game is Sunday in Great Falls.
