The third annual Havre Winter Thunder Squirt Tournament started off on the right foot for the Bullhook Bottoms/Short Stop Squirts A team, winning the first game against Missoula 7-3.
But things quickly changed for the squirts as they lost the next two games 4-3 to Butte and 6-2 to Helena.
Shane Kemmer led in first-game win, scoring three unassisted goals. Kemmer also added an assist on a goal scored by Adam Briese. Beau Briese scored two goals, one assisted by Mason Sheppard and the other from Tyler Ellis to Sheppard to Briese. Beau Briese added an assist to Sheppard to round out the scoring for Havre.
Goalie Cameron Schilling had 23 saves in the win against the Bruins.
The Bullhook Bottoms/Short Stop Squirts took to the ice for their second game Saturday, rounding out the day's action with the 8 p.m. game against Butte.
The Blues grabbed the lead and held on, taking the win 4-3.
Beau Briese, Tyler Ellis and Mason Sheppard each scored one goal in the game. Shane Kemmer assisted Briese's and Briese assisted Ellis'. Sheppard's goal was unassisted.
Cameron Schilling had 32 saves for Havre.
Facing the Helena Wolves in the final game of the tournament, the Havre team was outscored 6-2, finishing the weekend with one win and two losses.
Jarrett McLain and Beau Briese scored Havre's goals. McLain's was assisted by Cameron Schilling and Briese's by Mason Sheppard.
Goalie Adam Briese saved 30 shots in the game.
The Ice Hawks finished third in the tournament, followed by the Butte Blues in first place and the Helena Wolves in second. The Missoula Bruins rounded out the bracket with a fourth-place finish.
The Havre Ice Hawks Squirt B team started off its part of the Winter Thunder tournament with a convincing 9-3 win over Missoula.
Kyle Miller and Jesse Majeres each scored four goals and Dillon McLain added the final goal in the Havre win. Miller also had four assists in the game, Majeres added three and Tyler Miller and Nick Wood each had one.
Alex Sinclair had eight saves as goalie.
Playing in their second game of the tourney, the Ice Hawks squirts team faltered some and fell to the Butte B team 6-4.
Jesse Majeres and Kyle Miller each scored two goals. Tyler Miller had two assists and Majeres and Kyle Miller each added one.
Alex Sinclair saved 30 attempts as goalie.
The Squirts B team rebounded, playing in their second game of the day and easily defeating Missoula once again 7-3.
Alex Sinclair scored three goals and Jesse Majeres added two in the win. Kyle Miller and Amanda Hanson each added one goal. Kyle Miller and Tyler Miller each had two assists on the evening.
Goalie Willie DeVries had 27 saves for Havre.
Looking for revenge in their second game against Butte, the Havre team once again lost 7-1.
Kyle Miller scored the lone goal for the Squirts. Jesse Majeres assisted the goal.
Alex Sinclair moved back to goalie and blocked 36 attempts.
Havre finished the tournament in second place followed by Butte in first. Missoula took third on the weekend.
The next game for the Squirt B team is in Sidney on Dec. 15.
