Havre Ice Hawks bring home trophy

The Havre Mites hockey team played in a tournament in Butte this last weekend at the Butte Civic Center.

After dropping the first two games of the tournament, the Mites came back strong with a 16-1 win over the Bozeman Freeze.

Goalie Joey DeVries stopped 12 attempts sent his way.

Danny Roe scored nine goals in the win. Levi Wavrick scored three goals, his first ever in the win. Also scoring were Blaine Gisak with three goals and London Randazzo with one.

The Mites next game is at home against Glasgow at 1 p.m. Dec. 22.

Glasgow traveled to town next to take on the high school and Bantam team in a doubleheader played Saturday.

Havre shutout the Glasgow team in both games by a combined score of 13-0. Matt Strissel, John Danson, Josh Morse (3), Zach Musson and Jeremy Heninger scored the goals in the first Havre victory 7-0. Josh Strissel and Andy Hanson had two assists and Matt Strissel, Chad Hansen and Shiloh Barrett each had one.

Michael Anderson had four saves as goalie.

In the second game Saturday, Havre also won 6-0. Mark Larson scored two goals in the victory and Jeremy Heninger, Michael Anderson, Andy Hanson and Josh Morse each added one.

Josh Morse and Jeremy Heninger had two assists in the game followed by Scott Ladenburg, Austin Small, Tyson Anderson and Zach Musson each with one.

David Zentmire had five saves at goalie.

The Havre Bantams then traveled to Great Falls on Sunday to take on the Great Falls "A" team bantams at the Four Seasons Arena.

Mark Larson, Andy Hanson and Josh Strissel each scored one goal in the 16-3 defeat. Josh Morse had the only assist of the game.

The Havre Midget Ice Hawks traveled to Warner, Canada for a weekend tournament and, despite losing their first game, brought home a first-place trophy in the "B" division.

Jason Johnstone scored two of his six goals on the weekend in the first game loss at the hands of Lethbridge 4-3. Cody McLain and Corey Stremcha assisted Johnstone's two goals. Brett Patrick scored the other Havre goal, assisted by Mark Benjamin.

Havre rebounded in the second game of the tournament to defeat Taber/Coaldale 7-1.

Jason Johnstone scored two goals, assisted by J.R. Morse and Jordon Patterson. Brett Patrick added one goal, assisted by Cody McLain. Garrett Drake scored two goals, assisted by Chazz Hurlburt and Tyson Roe assisted by Jason Johnstone. Levi Briese also added one unassisted goal.

Havre's third game brought another win, knocking off Calgary 5-3.

Jason Johnstone added two more goals, assisted by Chazz Hurlburt. Cody McLain, Levi Briese and Jack Stilger also scored goals in the Havre win. Garrett Drake, Corey Stremcha and J.R. Morse tallied the assists.

Eric McLain guarded the goal for Havre in the tournament.

The Midgets travel to Butte Saturday and Sunday for two games.
