CHINOOK Steven C. Anderson, 50, died peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at a Missoula hospital from complications of diabetes.
Cremation has taken place and memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the American Lutheran Church in Chinook. A memorial service for members of his widow's family, the elderly, those who live far away, and any who missed the Saturday service will be held at the American Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. on Dec. 29.
Steve was born Sept. 17, 1951, in Havre to LeRoy and Rena (Sanguine) Anderson. His great love of the outdoors began at the age of 4 when he picked up his first fishing pole and fished at Cow Creek. He loved horses, hunting, backpacking into the Bob Marshall Wilderness, and sharing the Bear Paws with his family and friends.
He spent 32 years in the mechanical profession and took great pride in his skills. He worked with his father for 28 years and drove a school bus for 25 years. For the last 15 years, Steve spent his life fighting complications of diabetes and hardening of the arteries and to keep his leg. He spent the last month fighting to live with his diabetes in spite of the amputation of one of his legs and kidney failure. His brave fight is finally over and he is at peace.
Donations to help defray Steve's past medical bills and to help purchase a headstone may be made to an account at Western Bank in Chinook.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Rena Anderson; grandmothers, Alice and Addie; grandfathers, Clarence and Leonard; numerous aunts and uncles.
Survivors include his wife, Roberta "Bobbi" Anderson of Chinok; father, LeRoy "Andy" Anderson, and stepmother, Nancy Anderson, both of Chinook; daughter, Sheryl (Phil) Clark of Helena; stepdaughter, Beth (Duane) Donner of Milwaukee, Ore.; stepson, Mike (Nancy) Gacke of Harford, S.D.; brother, David (Sandy) Anderson of Palisade, Colo.; sisters, Chris (James) Fox and Vickie (Jim) Mickelson, all of Missoula; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
