Robert "Bob" Styber, 73, a retired U.S. Army veteran, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2001, at a Havre hospital of natural causes.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Holland and Bonine Funeral Chapel with Tim Maroney officiating. Full military honors

to follow the memorial service on the front lawn of the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home. Fellowship luncheon at the VFW Club in Havre.

Bob was born April 15, 1928, to Louis and Mildred (Sailor) Styber at Santa Cruz, Calif. He grew up and attended school in Delano, CA. Bob graduated from Military Prep School in California at which time he entered the U.S. Army. He served during World War II, the Korean War, and two Tours of Vietnam, being awarded many metals. He retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of faithful service. When he retired, Bob moved to Havre to be with his mother, who had moved here earlier. He served as a volunteer at the Havre Senior Citizens Center for many years. On June 1, 1986, Bob married Terry Maki at Havre.

Bob was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Unified Veterans Council Honor Guard of Havre. He was active in the Disabled American Veterans in Havre.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Styber.

Survivors include his mother, Mildred (Sailor) Styber; wife, Terry Maki Styber Havre; stepdaughters, Barbara Fuhringer of Dutton and Debbie Elliston of Chandler, Ariz.; stepson Greg Maki of Great Falls; children from a previous marriage, son, Robert Styber Jr. of California; daughters, Cindy Wright of Marietta, Ga., and Deborah Dash of Seminole, Fla.; five grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
