The Havre Midget hockey team placed second at the Billings tournament held Friday through Sunday.
Havre's first game was a league game against Billings. Playing his first games of the year after having knee surgery during the football season, Jon Johnstone scored two goals for the Midget team. Both goals were assisted by his brother, Jason Johnstone. The two then switched roles as Jason scored a goal, assisted by Jon.
J.R. Morse scored Havre's final goal, but it was too late as Billings defeated Havre 6-4.
Two hours later, the Havre team was back on the ice to face Sidney. The game ended in a 2-2 tie. Brett Patrick and Morse scored the goals for Havre. Assists were by Cody McLain, Garrett Drake and Levi Briese.
Havre got a break from the ice for the rest of Friday, before taking on a team from Pierre, S.D. Goalie Eric McLain held the opponents scoreless as the Havre team went on to win a close one, 1-0. Morse scored the lone Midget goal, assisted by Mark Benjamin and Jason Johnstone.
The Midgets came back for another game on Saturday and defeated Billings, 2-1. Drake scored the first goal, assisted by Patrick. Chazz Hurlburt followed with Havre's second goal, assisted by Andy Meyers.
Playing in the championship game on Sunday, the Richland Rangers shut out Havre 1-0, giving Havre a second-place finish for the tournament.
The Midgets' next game is against Billings at home on Sunday.
